I am a hunter

I wait for the season when conditions will be best

I watch the weather

Trying to be in the right place at the right time

Eyes trained

Animal prey is not my quarry

Though the thing I hunt is full of life

Full of breath and glory

When I find it

I will not kill it

I will immortalise it

Give my life to it.

I search for the moments

Where the light hits the land

And sets it on fire

Where colour and shadows are deep

Where sky meets earth

And time has stood still

I search for the moments when my breath is drawn deep from me

As I behold majestic beauty

My artists eye always asking

Can I frame it?

Is there enough balance here to fit within the confines of my canvas?

Can I capture this

So that when others see it,

Deep breath is drawn from them too?

Can I take this moment?

And give myself to it?

My spirit one with the spirit of the land?

The spirit of the sky?

Spirit itself?

One with all things

Creator and created

Standing here with my feet on the earth

My cell phone in my hand

Capturing this scene in digital format

The deep evening light falls on me also

The observer and the observed become one

Later, I will stand in my studio

And serve this moment with paint and brush

Shut away in my studio by myself through the dark winter months

Creators spirit flowing through me

I saw the glory

I saw the majesty

I stood on the spot in the moment

And knew this was the object of my hunt

I lent into the moment until I too was part of it

Part of the eternal

And now it lives within me

What alchemy is this?

That the light and deep colour and shadow now lives on my canvas?

Anointing is here.

It speaks to the truth I know

I partner with Creator to sing this song of glory

Creators heart, mine, and the viewers now one and the same

Breathing together

Light touching land

Grounded

Eternal

Knowing

One moment that has never been before

And will never be again

We are more than the confines of our skin and our time

We are part of this deep breathing

I am a hunter

Both lost and found in the eternal life

of these moments I capture
